Why are there no contemporary British war movies? If UK cinema goers want to see the portrayal of troops in modern warfare they have to watch Americans or other nationalities, with there being very little or no depiction of British soldiers in the current conflict in the Middle East. We aim to change that with the production of KAJAKI.

We have all followed the progress of the war and the steady trickle of dead and injured soldiers coming home. The bravery and self-sacrifice of these lads and the dignity of their parents is something we can all feel for, and yet we know very little of the experiences of the average squaddie.

Documentaries show the conditions on the ground but do little to illuminate character – who are these guys? What motivates them? How do they become heroes? Could we ourselves do it?

This event caught our attention because it is not side tracked by the political dimension of the war, but is a story of real people dealing with an impossible situation, like so many do every day.

It is, of course, a compelling story that shares many horror/thriller elements with Jaws, Alien or more recently [REC], in that there is a hidden danger that you cannot escape. However, this is the true story of a bunch of ordinary lads who were tested to the limit and became heroes.
